Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (2 cups / 454g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (600g) granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs, room temperature
  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup (180ml) whole milk
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300F (150C). Generously grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter on medium-high speed until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat for another 3-5 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to incorporate air into the batter.
  4. Reduce mixer speed to low. Alternately add the sifted flour and whole milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract if using for added flavor.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center. Cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
